The Victorian Bedroom
|
Once the room boasted a fine Chippendale four-poster bed which Hannah Burn sold in the 1930's. Today it contains a set of typical mid-Victorian mahogany furniture including a half-tester bed, with a feather mattress. There is also a child's bed, with a straw-filled mattress which was particularly useful because the straw could be burned if found to be wet.
Other items include a bedside lamp and bottle warmer, and a wooden crimping roller on the window-sill. The construction of the house staircase can also be seen from the room. |
