"A Sketch of Hornsea"

"A Sketch of Hornsea" , by J.E. Hobson was first published in 1974 as part of the Malet Lambert Local History series. The book describes the history of Hornsea from the Domesday book to 1901 and is one of the few local history books devoted solely to the town.

The book is packed full of illustrations, maps and photographs and covers the full development of the town from Earl Morcar's 'Hornesse' through to the late Victorian era typified by Joseph Armitage Wade, "The King of Hornsea".

The Copyright of "A Sketch of Hornsea" was generously transferred to Hornsea Museum by Jean Smith (J.E. Hobson). The book was revised by Mike sewell and Frank Hobson.
